Default Ignorant people

I thought i had met my fair share of morons while playing in the desert "noob trap" missions but it seems some of them managed to escape the dusty, hostile environment and contaminate further into the depths of PvE.

Let me explain....

My second character is a healer/protector monk and barely a few minutes ago, i saw something shocking in the fissure of woe. I saw an elementalist tanking a really big scary thing and draining the energy of both myself and the other monk.
I swore blind that i wouldn't commit more than one heal to people who are that stupid but i guess habit got the better of me.
Before i knew it, i was out of energy and so was the other monk, (as you can tell from the lack of healing taking place).

I saved up 10 points of energy and swung my rod towards a needy warrior and POP, he fell just as i aimed. Bye bye ten energy.
The same thing happened again to the next poor guy, dead during the final stage of casting. Another ten gone.
Just when i thought things couldn't get any worse, yep, it happened again.
You can imagine how long it takes for energy to regain and 3 casts to fail and so understand how much damage the team would have taken in that time.

Allow me to continue....

So, there we were. Three guys down, monks with no heals, and people running all over the place and shooting randomly at different targets which were growling like,well...really big growling things.
So i'm standing there with a smiting rod that does 1 dmg, trying to look busy when all i can really do is wait for my energy and one of the guys who died had the balls to blame the monks for the chaos.

"WTF healers!" "Why don't you do your job?"

Isn't that the most ignorant comment you could ever make to a monk?

They rush in like Rambo instead of forming a wall or whatever, elementalists tanking things that even Arnold Schwarzenegger would run away from, rangers and other dimwits shooting everywhere....

Wait for the monks energy, get a plan, listen to the monks when they tell you what skills they are using, for example, if healing seed is used on you, don't run off into the open where it will be less effective (That's a third of my energy damnit!!).
Look at your own gameplay and attitude before you blame your monks. It is a team game. Monks are not superman, their energy is as limited as your brain cells.

So, if by chance you are reading this Mr "WTF monks" from the fissure of woe, get your head out of your ass and look at your other teammates activities preceding the moment that the shite hit the fan.
Monks are there to help you, so you must help them.

For further advice, or failing to understand what i have said here, please use the search function.

I just got my first monk to ascention. As I've gotten further into the game, I've had worse and worse experiences with other players blaming everything on me.
It seems that if there is a monk on the team, every warrior has a free license to blindly charge into any mob, expecting to be healed for as long as it takes. I'm sure if some of these people played without a monk in the party, they'd be a lot more caareful...

Hey man, Arnold Schwarzenegger is my Governator. Ahnuld fears nothing.

Question: were you playing a character with Monk as a secondary profession? If so, it's not your job to heal anyone except yourself. Primary Monks and Elementalist/Monks, however, tell a different story because they have larger Energy pools.

Here's a story.

A party of five charge into the fray; unfortunately, the fray overpowered the party. The sixth member, a primary Monk, rests behind them casting Smiting spells. The party of five is losing health quickly. One party member dies, and then another. A warrior screams, "Monk, help us! Heal us!" The monk responds, "I'm a Smiting Monk. If you need healing, heal yourself." Soon after, the party of five is dead. The monk ran to safety. The party requests, "Monk, resurrect us!" The monk responds, "I can't resurrect you. I'm a Smiting monk."

Yes, fun.

Yeah, I don't play monk myself, but I know the brandishing they get. Everyone seems to blame them for everything (excpet me).

I agree that when that happens the monks head should be bashed in unless they spefically said that they were smiting. But there are just some people who shouldnt be healed.

BTW Every one who can should carry rebirth

Lesson learnt - talk with your team members before you enter mission or map.

Yesterday, I went to do the villainy of Galrath quest with 4 guildies and 3 PUG members..

We invited the PUG to our teamspeak server, so they could hear what we were saying whilst we travelled.

One of them joined us, and the other politely refused, requesting that we show the plans on the map..

I mean, that is not a problem..

The other player (A W/Mo I might add. ) just said "this quest is easy!"

Boy..this is going to be fun..

For the beginning of the trip, 7 of us are fine..following orders, running into corners so our ranger can safely pull the mobs etc.

At this point the w/mo says: "Y R we goin so slow? Time=Money!"

Erm...so we don't die?

For the entire mission, he proceeds to aggro everything in sight, charging into the red dots as if they're level 1's with his fiery dragon sword swinging. (I swear..Prince Rurik must be his idol.)

Despite this, our PUG monk (Who was doing a great job, and has since joined our guild. ) managed to keep the suicidal warrior alive..(8 players are better than 7, even if they are a moron.)

Eventually, we reach Galrath..we focus fire onto him..but not the warrior, no..he goes and drags everything in the area onto us.

Luckily, we managed to take Galrath down before becoming overwhelmed by the sheer amount of enemies.

After this, you would expect an apology from the w/mo..but no, he says:

"Lag made me lose 2 much time!"
"We wasted a lot of time here!"
"U F**'s R S***!"

I truly wonder about some people..

I used to play as a monk, and true, when something goes wrong, everyone always blames the monk :P

I was hoping the "leeroys" would stay away from guild wars x_x

Yes, fun.

I've said this in a Sanitarium post... but other classes need to be given better options to heal themselves, so that monks are more free to run non-healing-focused builds. Do you agree?

At the very least, give everyone a healing signet that can heal teammates, maybe with a long recharge time, for "emergency use". And a non-battle rez signet that takes a lot of time, and rezzes at 1 health, but can be used infinitely.

Oh, and I agree that stupid people suck.... but if there were no stupid people, then the good teams wouldn't be as wonderful an experience would they? :P
(let's take it philosophically! FTW!)

Actually I've had fun moments when someone lands us in a sticky situation (by accident or by stupidity) and we fight our way through it through skill and panic GW is good like that - you dont have to carefully pull mobs 1 by 1 like in WoW or EQ just to survive - you can actually play the game a little more aggressively and still pull through - and it's a rush!

They way I look at it is this:

I know that I am a good monk. I worked on my build, and it takes a great deal to run me out of energy.

I have had the kind of group you describe. They do their best to kill themselves and then throw a tantrum at you if anyone dies. I know that I am good enough to make up for some inexperienced or careless players, within reason. So, if a group is so bad that it exceeds my abilities to keep things together, I don't ever have to group with them again. They need me. I don't need them. There are going to be plenty of groups out there that are competent enough for me to do well with, and I will not have any problem getting invited to go with them.

The best thing, then, is to just ignore the players that treat me like this. I can drop them to go find a better group, and who cares if they are so upset that they never want me to group with them again? I don't see any reason to take their abuse, and I obviously wouldn't want to join up for more.

In fact, you know that with how rare monks can be, you will probably see an invite from some of those same people again even if you purposely were as rude as possible to them. I am not saying that you should try to be rude - just that a good monk is in such high demand that idiots that treat you like that can't have any real negative effect on you.
